The composition is designed to restore performance and extend the life of the power steering of cars. Extends the life of the hydraulic booster. Restoration of worn parts, protection against wear under increased loads and high ambient temperatures extends the life of the unit by 1.5-2 times.

Effects of application

Being in transmission oil, the composition of the "Power Steering" creates conditions under which a metal protective layer is formed on the friction surfaces. This layer partially restores worn parts of the hydraulic booster pump, optimizes the gaps, allows you to keep a denser oil layer on their surface, and cleans the spool mechanism.

This allows you to normalize the operation of the unit, restore the pressure of the pump, which leads to a number of positive effects:

  • The steering wheel is easier to turn. Normalization of the pump operation gives an increase in pressure up to three kilograms, which greatly facilitates turning the steering wheel;
  • Reduces noise and vibration. Restoration of the hydraulic booster pump, cleaning of bypass valves reduce noise and vibration during the operation of the hydraulic booster;
  • Extends the life of the hydraulic booster. Restoration of worn parts, protection against wear under increased loads and high ambient temperatures extends the life of the unit by 1.5-2 times.

The pump of HPS system should be treated in 2 stages.

The 1st stage:

  • Before applying shake the can with compound thoroughly until all the sediments (active components) are totally dissolved.
  • Pour half of Atomium HPS through the regular filling neck of the hydraulic power steering (30 ml for 1 liter of hydraulic fluid to be exact).
  • Start the engine and make 10-15 left-right turns of stirring wheel to maximum degree.
  • Drive in your normal regime for 15-20 minutes.
  • Then drive about 1500-2000 kilometers.

The 2nd stage:

It is recommended to change hydraulic fluid and filters (if there are any) after about 2000 km. However it is not obligatory if there are no complaints about the mechanism. In case of fluid replacement – add another half of compound (another 30 ml per 1 liter) following instructions above.

Precautions:

Not harmful if applied correctly.

First aid:

  • In case of a contact with skin remove the material wash out with warm water, and then wash again with soap;
  • In case of contact with eyes wash out eyes with large amount of water;
  • In case of swallowing consult a doctor.
There may few reasons which affect the work of hydraulic power steering. Some of them bring up similar symptoms, some of them really hard to detect. Below we propose of short overview of some possible reasons of troubles to help you to understand what’s going on and make a correct decision.

Amount of fluid in the system

Obviously the whole system is designed for a certain volume of hydraulic fluid. The lower volume may downgrade of assistance forces and pump may start to make some whine noises. The loss of fluid may happen if there are leaks in the system. Flexible hoses paired with high pressure of liquid is not a very reliable combination.
Check up the mechanism to find some traces of fluid leaks to ensure that this is exactly the problem. Taking into account that fluid is actually oil – the traces may be dirty and sticky. May be you need just change a hose.

Air bubbles

Evidently if an air bubble will try to move some lever arm instead of oil – the system will not work properly. Again it may be noticed as less assistance powers and some jerks on the wheel. Air can get in due to loosened fittings or dry and thin o-rings. Check these to fix the problem and make sure there are enough fluid in the system.

Clogs

Clogs disturb fluid to come in correct place in correct amount. It doesn’t make its work easier. However sometimes it is hard to say – if there is some downgrades of assistance forces or not. Is there any pain in your arm muscles at the evening?
If you are suspicious that clogs are there – try to use Atomium tribotechnical compound HPS. First of all it cleans up friction surfaces in the pump and restores outlet pressure. The normal flow will consequently clean up some most disturbing clogs. But then it is highly recommended to change fluid to remove contaminations from the system after 1200-1500 km of mileage.
